Welcome

West Elementary Families,

Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! I am truly honored and excited to serve as the principal of West Elementary. As we begin this new year together, I look forward to partnering with our students, families, staff, and community to make this an outstanding year of learning, growth, and success.

West Elementary holds a special place in my heart. As a lifelong member of the Cullman community, I attended West Elementary before graduating from Cullman High School in 1993. Years later, my own children also walked these hallways. Because of these lifelong connections, I understand the pride our community has in this school and the importance of providing every child with a safe, caring, and engaging environment where they can thrive.

At West Elementary, we are committed to creating a positive school culture where every student feels welcomed, valued, challenged, and supported. Our dedicated faculty and staff are passionate about helping each child reach their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally. Together, we will celebrate successes, overcome challenges, and create meaningful learning experiences every day.

Thank you for entrusting us with your children. It is a privilege to serve this wonderful community, and I look forward to getting to know each of you throughout the year. I encourage you to stay connected, become involved, and never hesitate to reach out with questions or ideas.

I'm excited to welcome our students back to West Elementary!

Go Bearcats!

Sincerely,
Dr. Chad Shannon
Principal
